About the Role
As the Account Director focused on Retail, you will cultivate and manage high-level relationships with prominent retail brands, e-commerce platforms, and consumer goods companies. Your mission will be to assist these organizations in deploying OpenAI’s technology to revolutionize customer experiences, streamline supply chains, enhance merchandising strategies, and personalize consumer interactions.
This dynamic position requires a unique blend of market insights, technical expertise, business savvy, and relationship-driven enterprise sales capabilities. You will work closely with researchers, engineers, and retail-focused solution strategists to design secure, compliant, and impactful AI solutions.
This position is based in San Francisco, following a hybrid work model of three days in the office per week. We also offer relocation assistance for new hires.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee a selective portfolio of retail accounts, formulating and executing long-term strategic account plans.
Lead intricate, multi-stakeholder sales processes encompassing merchandising, operations, marketing, and commercial sectors.
Collaborate with engineering and solutions teams to design pilot projects that yield measurable business and customer outcomes.
Work alongside compliance, privacy, and security teams to ensure responsible AI deployment in regulated environments.
Own revenue and consumption targets; manage forecasts and pipeline reporting.
Stay informed on industry and regulatory trends (e.g., FTC, consumer protection) to guide customer and product strategies.
Represent OpenAI at industry conferences and thought-leadership events (e.g., NRF, Shoptalk).
Collaborate across departments with marketing, partnerships, and product teams to enhance customer engagement.
