We are on the lookout for a dedicated Accounting Clerk to enhance our dynamic Rental Property Management division. This full-time position involves managing a vibrant rental portfolio, working alongside a skilled accounting leadership team, and collaborating with Property Managers across Alberta.

Role Overview

As an Accounting Clerk, you will be responsible for executing comprehensive accounting tasks related to our rental properties. This includes processing rent, managing owner payments, and conducting reconciliations. The position demands a structured, detail-oriented approach with defined monthly and weekly cycles.

You will also engage in weekly POD meetings with Property Managers to ensure alignment and effective communication.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle accounting for rental properties, including:
    • Accounts Receivable (A/R)
    • Accounts Payable (A/P)
    • Monthly owner statements and payments
  • Process rent, move-in/move-out transactions, refunds, and management fees
  • Prepare and execute monthly bank reconciliations
  • Post journal entries and accruals
  • Accurately enter annual budgets
  • Conduct weekly cheque runs
  • Assist with government reporting for non-residents
  • Adhere to RECA trust accounting requirements
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver reliable service

Qualifications

  • Experience in property management or rental property accounting
  • A foundational understanding of full-cycle accounting processes, including:
    • Subledgers and general ledgers
    • Chart of accounts
    • Basic financial reporting
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Excel
  • Ability to perform detailed work accurately, even during busy periods
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Capability to follow established processes and meet deadlines
