About the job

The Elmhurst Learning and Success Academy (ELSA) is dedicated to providing a comprehensive four-year certificate program tailored for students with disabilities. We are currently inviting applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor to teach the ELSA Healthy Living I Fitness course in the spring semester of 2027.

  • Course Details:
    ELS 011 – Healthy Living I; Tuesdays & Thursdays, 1:00-2:40 PM (Start date: February 1, 2027)
    This dynamic course emphasizes behaviors that significantly enhance quality of life. Students will explore physical, intellectual, emotional, and social skills, with a strong focus on self-analysis and personal responsibility in adopting a holistic approach to health and wellness.

We seek enthusiastic and collaborative educators who are passionate about higher education and dedicated to supporting students of all abilities.

Position Status:

Exempt

Salary:

The salary for this position ranges from $3,800 to $4,000 for a standard 1.0 credit (4 semester hour) course, with new part-time faculty starting at $3,800 (Adjunct Level 1).

Work Location:

This position is not eligible for remote work.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and delivers engaging Healthy Living I instruction both in the classroom and fitness center.
  • Guides students in the proper use of fitness equipment.
  • Collaborates with the ELSA Director and adjunct faculty to evaluate and refine the curriculum as necessary.
  • Provides constructive feedback and assessment of student performance.
  • Maintains accurate records of student progress, including attendance and grading.
  • Holds regular office hours for student consultation.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

This position primarily involves indoor work with limited outdoor exposure. The role is mostly sedentary, requiring extended periods of sitting. Essential abilities include effective communication, both in-person and virtually, and visual acuity for reading materials and screens.
