Bachelor's degree (Level 7 or above) in engineering or a scientific discipline (Chemistry). A minimum of 6 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including at least 2 years in an Engineering Supervisor role. Previous experience in an active pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, particularly within the Engineering Department, is essential. Proficiency with glass-lined vessels, reactors, pumps, heat exchangers, ATEX compliance, and solvent handling. Exceptional attention to detail and concentration to ensure accuracy and adherence to procedures. Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to make swift decisions on engineering-related matters.

Join our dynamic engineering team as an API Engineering Manager at our state-of-the-art facility located on Manorhamilton Road (MHR), Sligo. Reporting directly to the Operations Engineering Manager, you will lead a diverse team of engineers, technicians, and apprentices dedicated to our Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) business unit. Your primary responsibilities will encompass team development, budget oversight, and collaboration with production to ensure alignment with policies governing Personnel, Quality, Engineering, Safety, and Finance.

This multifaceted role requires you to foster cross-functional partnerships with contract maintenance providers, production teams, technical operations, quality assurance, and other stakeholders to optimize equipment performance. You will spearhead a variety of projects, ranging from continuous improvement initiatives to the introduction of new products, leveraging your extensive experience in an API manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Operations Engineering Manager to establish departmental goals, schedules, and activity timetables.
  • Support and manage the development of manufacturing equipment.
  • Ensure the API Engineering Team maintains manufacturing equipment to meet legal, divisional, and corporate standards.
  • Develop and execute CAPA plans with defined timelines.
  • Conduct specific investigations and monitor equipment to enhance manufacturing performance, with a focus on minimizing downtime and maximizing output and yield.
  • Oversee equipment/process upgrades in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Generate monthly engineering metrics and deliver timely management reports.
  • Ensure budgets remain within targets and prepare capital expenditure requests as necessary.
  • Facilitate successful external, divisional, and corporate audits.
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards and promote safe working practices.
  • Manage internal and external plant projects as required.
  • Supervise and cultivate relationships with external contractors.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and drive action items to completion.
