About the job

About the Role

Join Opendoor as an Applied Scientist, where you'll tackle some of the most challenging quantitative problems in the industry. This position centers on structural modeling, econometrics, optimization, and decision-making under uncertainty, focusing on applications such as pricing strategies, resale tactics, demand forecasting, and risk management.
Your expertise will be vital in enhancing our valuation and pricing ecosystem. We seek a candidate with a strong modeling intuition who can execute hands-on solutions for our low-margin, high-stakes business, where even minor adjustments lead to significant outcomes.
You'll engage in tasks such as modeling post-listing demand, estimating price elasticity, designing experiments, constructing structural models, and developing optimizers to refine our decision-making across products and inventory.
As part of our agile team, you will have the chance to influence both modeling strategies and the application of these systems in production-level decision-making.
