Bachelor's degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field. A graduate degree in quantity surveying, cost management, construction management, or engineering is preferred. A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in a project controls role within the construction industry. Proficiency in project management software (such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. A strong grasp of project control principles, methodologies, and tools, including schedule development, cost control, risk management, and performance measurement. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex project data and provide valuable insights and recommendations. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Turner & Townsend is actively looking for a driven and experienced Associate Director of Project Controls to become a vital part of our expanding team. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable history of achieving excellent client outcomes and will play a crucial role in delivering project controls services for significant client accounts while also contributing to broader business initiatives when required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement comprehensive project control strategies, processes, and procedures to enhance project performance and ensure compliance with timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to establish project objectives, scope, deliverables, and KPIs.
  • Develop detailed project schedules utilizing industry-standard project management software, with a focus on critical path analysis, resource allocation, and dependencies.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate project progress against established baselines, identifying deviations, risks, and opportunities for enhancement. Proactively implement measures to mitigate risks and resolve issues effectively.
  • Conduct regular project status meetings with stakeholders, delivering precise and timely updates on project performance metrics such as schedule adherence, cost variance, earned value, and risk assessments.
  • Offer expert guidance and recommendations on project control best practices, including cost estimation, budgeting, forecasting, and earned value management.
  • Establish and oversee change management processes to evaluate and manage project scope alterations, ensuring thorough impact assessment, approval protocols, and documentation.
  • Assist project teams in crafting contingency plans, risk mitigation strategies, and recovery plans to overcome project challenges and secure successful outcomes.
  • Support project managers in analyzing project data and producing reports that facilitate decision-making, trend identification, and insights into project performance.
  • Provide training and mentorship to project team members on project control methodologies, tools, and techniques, nurturing a culture of excellence in project control within the organization.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in project controls, proactively applying this knowledge to improve project management processes.
  • Adhere to SOX control responsibilities as applicable.
