About the job

Join Hadrian in Shaping the Future of Manufacturing

At Hadrian, we are pioneering the development of autonomous factories, empowering aerospace and defense industries to manufacture rockets, satellites, jets, and ships at speeds up to ten times faster and at half the cost. By integrating cutting-edge software, robotics, and comprehensive manufacturing processes, we are redefining the production of America’s most vital components.

With the recent inauguration of Factory 3 in Mesa, Arizona, spanning 290,000 square feet and generating 350 new job opportunities, we are rapidly scaling to accommodate thousands of future hires. Our expansion includes the launch of Hadrian Maritime for naval production and a Factory-as-a-Service model that offers complete systems rather than just individual parts.

Supported by prominent investors such as T. Rowe Price, Lux Capital, Founders Fund, and Andreessen Horowitz, our dynamic team is committed to revitalizing American manufacturing for the 21st century and beyond.

Your Role

We are seeking our inaugural Automation Engineer specializing in Material Flow to oversee the movement of parts within Hadrian factories. You will scope, implement, and manage AMR fleets, floor conveyance systems, and overhead material handling via cranes, gantries, and hoists, while also integrating MES/WMS to transform our cells into a cohesive manufacturing environment. Collaboration with Factory Automation, Operations, Facilities/EHS, Mechanical/Cell ME, and the factory software team is essential.

This position is hands-on and requires you to commission AMRs, conveyors, lift interfaces, and overhead movement systems, troubleshoot fleet managers, crane/gantry control systems, and PLC integrations, while ensuring optimal throughput, safety, and operator engagement in material flow processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, and commission AMR fleets, including vendor assessment, pilot projects, volume rollouts, fleet manager setups, charging/docking systems, and acceptance testing.

  • Develop conveyance pathways (belt, roller, chain, pallet, lift) for inter-cell and intra-cell material flow, accounting for cycle times, WIP buffers, jam recovery, maintainability, and failure mode management.

  • Design overhead material handling systems for scenarios where floor conveyance or AMRs are unsuitable, including bridge cranes, gantries, hoists, lift assists, below-the-hook tooling, safety zones, and operator workflows.

  • Manage traffic and lift-zone logistics, including intersections, charging zones, docking areas, crane envelopes, and mixed human/robot pathways.

About Hadrian Automation

Hadrian Automation is at the forefront of revolutionizing manufacturing through the development of autonomous factories that significantly enhance production speed and cost-effectiveness for aerospace and defense sectors. Our innovative approach combines advanced technologies to create a new standard in manufacturing, committed to reshaping the industry for future generations.
