Job Summary:
We are on the lookout for a dependable Automotive Mechanic Assistant to join our talented team of mechanics and technicians. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in assisting with repairs, maintenance, and various labor tasks, ensuring that we deliver safe, efficient, and top-notch services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support automotive service technicians and mechanics in performing maintenance and repair tasks.
- Transport tools, equipment, and automotive parts to and from designated work areas.
- Assist in holding and positioning components during installation, service, or repair processes.
- Perform cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance tasks on vehicles and mechanical components.
- Assist in the removal, replacement, and installation of tires, batteries, filters, and other components under the supervision of the floor manager.
- Wash and clean vehicles and parts pre- and post-repair.
- Drive vehicles and operate mechanized equipment as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Collaborate with mechanics to assess repair needs and identify optimal servicing options.
- Ensure proper disposal of used materials in compliance with safety regulations.
- Deliver parts and supplies to the work area as required.
- Understand and execute safety procedures effectively.
- Assist tradespersons, apprentices, and other workers as directed.
- Keep machines and work areas clean and organized.
- Document problems and completed work through reports.
- Engage with supervisors to discuss work and confirm findings before repairs or replacements are made.
- Familiarity with Body Shop Connect software is an asset.
- Perform additional labor and support tasks as required by the floor manager.
