This position is located at Motional's Las Vegas office, situated less than 10 miles from the Las Vegas Strip at 730 E Pilot Road. Our facility is home to one of the largest fleets of self-driving vehicles. The city's well-planned grid system and designation as one of America’s “smart cities” provide a unique environment for extensive research and development testing.
Mission Summary:
As an Autonomous Vehicle Test Operator, you will act as the “eyes and ears” of our engineering teams, delivering both subjective feedback and objective data while navigating various real-world driving scenarios to validate our Autonomous Driving features. Safety is paramount, and you will be expected to uphold the highest standards while operating, testing, and maintaining our fleet of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs). Your attention to detail, inquisitive mindset, and ability to articulate observations clearly will be vital in this role.
This role focuses on safely driving our vehicles, executing in-vehicle tests, recording test results, annotating data logs, and providing valuable feedback to our development teams.
Essential Duties:
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures while operating prototype-level Autonomous Vehicles on both defined and undefined routes, across diverse geographic and environmental conditions.
- Utilize in-vehicle data recording systems, including starting/stopping recordings, marking data, and performing minor debugging when necessary.
- Deliver clear, accurate, and constructive subjective feedback to engineering teams regarding observed vehicle behavior.
- Ensure the safe operation of our test vehicles on public roads.
- Travel may be required for initial training and collaboration with other vehicle operators.
- Complete necessary accident and incident reports.
- Possess sufficient English-speaking skills to communicate with first responders if required.
- Maintain current knowledge and compliance with all Motional AD LLC operating policies, procedures, and directives.
- Arrive on time for scheduled shifts, carrying appropriate driving credentials and being ready to work.
