Role Overview
Point Wild is hiring a Backend Engineer for a remote position based in Latvia. This engineer will join a small, skilled team focused on a security project that explores new ways to protect systems using cryptography, automation, and AI-driven analysis. The work spans hands-on development, collaboration with senior engineers, and involvement across the stack. The team works closely with engineering, product, and design groups.
What You Will Do
- Design, build, and deliver features for the product suite.
- Write maintainable backend code, primarily hosted on AWS or GCP.
- Collaborate with experts in AI and cryptography.
- Work with the product manager to gather requirements and help plan architecture, data flows, API specs, and testing methods.
- Follow established engineering practices and join team discussions on process and quality.
- Contribute to customer-driven development and iterate based on user feedback.
- Create automated tests for load, performance, and error handling.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience in backend software engineering.
- Strong TypeScript coding skills.
- Experience with AWS, including containerization (EKS, ECS) and serverless architectures.
- Familiarity with relational, key/value, and graph databases, including schema management.
- Background in API design, data modeling, secure service development, and database systems.
- Focus on writing quality code, robust error handling, and ensuring high availability.
- Pragmatic and thoughtful approach to technical challenges.
- Upper-intermediate spoken and written English.
