About Us
At Speak, we are on a mission to revolutionize the language learning experience.
Language learning can transform lives by providing access to new cultures, career opportunities, and communities. With two billion people globally striving to learn a language, the most effective method, personalized one-on-one tutoring, is often out of reach and has seen little innovation over the years. Speak is changing that by creating an AI-driven tutoring experience that feels human, allowing learners to engage in conversation, receive instant feedback, and progress through meticulously crafted lessons. The outcome is a comprehensive journey from novice to confident speaker in multiple languages.
Launched in South Korea in 2019, Speak has quickly gained popularity as the leading language-learning app, serving learners in various markets across 15+ languages. With over $150 million raised in funding from notable investors such as OpenAI, Accel, Founders Fund, and Khosla Ventures, Speak is one of the foremost AI companies, boasting a diverse team spread across San Francisco, Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, and Ljubljana.
About This Role
We are looking for talented bilingual actors to feature in our app-based video lessons as engaging language instructors (please refer to the sample video below for reference). In these interactive video lessons, you will be seated at a table facing the camera, delivering pre-written scripts that elucidate language concepts and phrases for our learners. Although the lessons are not live, they incorporate interactive elements, including questions for the user and varied responses based on their performance. As a bilingual Japanese teacher, you will perform scripts designed to teach English to Japanese speakers.
Note:
Candidates must be bilingual in Japanese and English.
You will portray a professional from a non-educational background who is enthusiastic about supporting a friend's language learning journey, emphasizing a friendly and approachable demeanor rather than a strict teaching style.
Preference will be given to native Japanese speakers and/or heritage speakers; individuals who studied Japanese in school will not qualify.
We seek a neutral Japanese accent in your delivery.
Actors should possess a relatable and engaging presence.
