Texas Health Action is on the lookout for a Bilingual Medical Assistant at our San Antonio Kind Clinic to facilitate the delivery of patient care during clinic operational hours. This position will report directly to the Clinic Administrator.
Your Responsibilities:
- Efficiently room and prepare patients for their clinic visits.
- Gather and document comprehensive patient medical histories, including allergies, family background, social and surgical history, and other relevant information for medical records.
- Measure and record vital signs.
- Assist with phlebotomy and lab specimen processing as required during clinic hours.
- Dispense medications and provide STI treatments, including injections, following clinician directives and existing Standing Delegation Orders (SDOs).
- Act as a liaison between the laboratory, clinicians, and patients.
- Verify provider requests for accuracy, completeness, and ensure proper protocol is followed in handling specimens.
- Maintain cleanliness and stock levels of exam rooms.
- Support clinic staff and the Clinic Administrator in monitoring inventory levels and confirming receipt of supplies in line with established policies.
- Implement infection control measures and universal precautions to uphold health and safety standards during clinic operations.
- Complete annual clinical competencies.
- Ensure confidentiality in accordance with clinic policies and HIPAA guidelines.
- Promote teamwork within the clinic.
- Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and in-service training as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
