The Biorepository Technician III plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and quality of biological samples within our state-of-the-art laboratory. This position requires meticulous attention to detail while performing cryopreservation, specimen handling, aliquoting, and molecular biology tasks. The technician will also be responsible for data reconciliation, resolving discrepancies, and managing activities in our inventory management system (e.g., BSI). Additionally, this role supports special projects that may involve collaboration across various functional teams. Adaptability and teamwork are essential traits for success in this dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Training and Competency Assessment:
- Provide training to laboratory technicians on established procedures and protocols.
- Conduct competency assessments for repository personnel.
- Serve as a resource for lab technicians, offering guidance on questions related to documented procedures, safety protocols, and company policies.
Data Reconciliation:
- Investigate and resolve data discrepancies in collaboration with project team members.
- Coordinate actions for discrepancy resolution, including data investigations, relabeling, and sample checks.
- Use BSI and hardcopy data to track missing specimens.
- Prepare and analyze reports from BSI to identify potential errors and trends in data.
- Verify discrepancies noted by lab technicians during inventory procedures.
- Commit data updates in BSI following established procedures.
Sample Management:
- Receive biological samples, ensuring accurate recording of all pertinent information in Incoming Shipment Batch.
- Store samples at appropriate temperatures according to established guidelines.
- Distribute confirmation of shipment receipt forms as required by project specifications.
- Verify sample vial information against study site submissions.
- Scan samples into the data management system, BSI.
- Address paperwork discrepancies and notify supervisors as necessary by generating discrepancy reports.
- Assist with the inventory of returned specimens.
