About the job
Join Primary Labs as a Biotechnology Operator-in-Residence
At Primary, we are a pioneering seed-stage venture capital firm committed to collaborating with extraordinary founders to build transformative businesses. Our unique approach combines substantial, long-term investment with an unparalleled portfolio impact team, resulting in an industry-leading seed-to-A graduation rate for our portfolio companies.
Since launching our incubation arm, Primary Labs, in 2019, we have been at the forefront of ideating and launching innovative companies. Our first three incubated startups are set to significantly multiply the returns of our inaugural fund, positioning us for extensive growth in our company-building endeavors.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Biotechnology Operator-in-Residence (OIR) to join our Primary Labs team. This critical role will involve ideating, launching, and developing enduring companies that lie at the crossroads of biology, artificial intelligence, and data infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with our Incubation Venture Partner, Dr. Kieran Chacko, to design companies that will revolutionize biotechnology into a fundamental operating system for healthcare, seamlessly transferring biological insights from research to patient care.
Our methodology is hands-on, driven by hypotheses, and rooted in a team-first philosophy. We focus on formulating clear perspectives on future biological capabilities and systemic changes that can profoundly enhance patient outcomes. Collaborating with scientists, clinicians, and industry experts, we rigorously test our ideas and refine our solutions based on real-world feedback. We also develop early technical, experimental, and platform prototypes to challenge our assumptions and ensure we own the entire process from initial signals to company formation and growth.
We seek builders who possess a scientific mindset, thrive in uncertain environments, and are adept at forming and testing hypotheses. You should be comfortable designing experiments across biological systems, data, and real-world workflows, and willing to adapt your views as new evidence emerges. Your goal is to create companies that have a lasting, positive impact on health and significantly improve patient outcomes.
This position may be based in either Boston or New York City.
