Required Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED.2 to 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent certification/training. CFC Certification is preferred; willingness to obtain certification as necessary; must hold engineering and trade licenses as required by local, state, or national laws. Proficiency in using laptop and mobile applications for work orders and facility operations, along with basic skills in Microsoft Outlook. Familiarity with fire/life safety equipment and protocols. Demonstrated ability to deliver outstanding customer service and effectively communicate with tenants, vendors, contractors, as well as colleagues and management.

The Building Engineer I plays a crucial role in the maintenance, operation, and troubleshooting of essential building systems, such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. This position focuses on executing routine maintenance tasks, promptly addressing tenant requests, and ensuring all systems operate safely, all while working under the supervision of senior engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct scheduled maintenance, repairs, and inspections of building systems; respond to service requests, including temperature adjustments, plumbing issues, and lighting repairs.
  • Diagnose minor equipment malfunctions and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Replace light fixtures, air filters, and other components as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections and equipment performance.
  • Engage with tenants, contractors, and property managers, collaborating closely with senior engineers and technicians to ensure seamless building operations and resolve tenant concerns.
  • Assist in preventive maintenance tasks and oversee contractor activities.
  • Perform property inspections to identify and report deficiencies.
  • Record equipment readings to ensure compliance with operational standards.
  • Adhere to company safety protocols, utilize appropriate PPE, ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFC, NFPA regulations, report safety hazards, and participate in safety inspections.
  • Provide mentorship to junior technicians when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with team members, leadership, vendors, tenants, and client personnel, ensuring timely updates and information dissemination.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to enhance technical skills and engage in professional development programs for career advancement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
