Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required. 2-3 years of relevant experience or equivalent certification/trade experience. CFC Certification preferred or willingness to obtain; must hold necessary engineering and trade licenses as per local, state, or national regulations. Basic proficiency in using laptop and mobile applications for work order and facility management systems, along with fundamental skills in Microsoft Outlook. Familiarity with fire/life safety equipment and procedures. Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional customer service, effectively communicating with tenants, vendors, contractors, and team members. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

The Building Engineer I plays a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal performance and safety of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical infrastructure. This position involves routine maintenance, swift response to tenant requests, and troubleshooting issues under the mentorship of seasoned engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular maintenance, repairs, and inspections of essential building systems; promptly address service requests, including temperature adjustments, plumbing concerns, and lighting fixes.
  • Diagnose minor equipment failures and escalate complex issues to senior engineers as necessary.
  • Replace light fixtures, filters, and other components as needed to maintain efficiency.
  • Keep detailed records of inspections and equipment functionality.
  • Engage with tenants, contractors, and property management to facilitate seamless building operations and resolve tenant inquiries.
  • Support preventive maintenance initiatives and oversee contractor activities.
  • Perform property inspections to identify potential issues.
  • Log equipment readings and verify that building systems comply with operational standards.
  • Adhere to company safety policies, utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFC, and NFPA regulations, report safety concerns, and participate in safety audits.
  • Provide mentorship to junior technicians as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with teammates, supervisors, vendors, and tenants, ensuring all parties are informed and updated as necessary.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to enhance technical skills and engage in professional development opportunities to advance in your career.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
