Key Responsibilities:Lead purchasing and planning efforts for designated commodities and product lines. Execute and oversee purchase orders, ensuring they align with production timelines and demand signals. Assess supplier performance, lead times, and delivery schedules; proactively identify and mitigate potential risks and shortages. Assist in material planning for production and NPI builds, including prototypes and low-volume products. Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations to guarantee timely material availability for builds and testing. Maintain and update ERP system data (item masters, lead times, planning parameters, BOMs as necessary). Act on MRP signals and respond to planning needs effectively.

Role Overview: Buyer/Planner II

The Buyer/Planner II manages procurement and material planning for both production and new product introduction (NPI) projects. This role shapes the delivery of Northwood’s space communication systems by overseeing the full material lifecycle, from initial demand through delivery. The position combines planning and purchasing responsibilities to improve speed, accountability, and results.

Working closely with supply chain, engineering, and operations, the Buyer/Planner II translates evolving designs into clear material requirements. The goal: ensure components are available on time for uninterrupted builds and testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement and material planning for assigned programs
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of materials, from demand forecasting to delivery
  • Coordinate with engineering and operations to align material needs with changing designs
  • Push suppliers to meet strict timelines and quality standards
  • Identify and resolve supply challenges before they affect production
  • Continuously improve planning and procurement processes as the company grows
