Join Effectual as a Cloud Migration Engineer and play a pivotal role in our migration team. You will assist clients transitioning from on-premises infrastructure or VMware Cloud (VMC) to AWS cloud-native services. Collaborating closely with a technical leader, you will be responsible for implementing, managing, and migrating workloads to AWS cloud environments. Your focus will be on optimizing migration strategies for varied application portfolios, leveraging AWS-native services, containerization, serverless architectures, and advanced analytics capabilities. Your contributions will ensure smooth transitions that adhere to industry best practices and the Well-Architected Framework. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Migrations and Modernizations.
Daily Responsibilities of a Cloud Migration Engineer
In your role, you will plan, execute, and enhance cloud migration projects utilizing the AWS platform. Your expertise will be critical in leveraging AWS migration tools and methodologies, ensuring our clients experience successful and efficient migrations. Additionally, you will offer technical leadership and mentorship to customer engineers as they embrace AWS services.
Key Responsibilities
- Employ AWS migration tools and methodologies to evaluate, plan, and execute workload migrations to the AWS platform.
- Design, implement, and manage scalable, highly available cloud infrastructure solutions.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless application migrations across compute, storage, networking, and security.
- Utilize AWS services like AWS Migration Hub (MGN) and Database Migration Service (DMS) to facilitate migrations.
- Manage cloud services and resources, including virtual machines, containers, storage, networking, and serverless computing.
- Create and maintain automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates to optimize cloud resource provisioning and configuration.
- Monitor and enhance cloud infrastructure performance for efficient resource utilization and cost optimization.
- Provide technical guidance to client cloud engineers and support teams during their AWS adoption journey.
- Partner with security teams to implement and enforce cloud security protocols, including access controls, encryption, and threat detection.
- Assist in incident response and troubleshooting of cloud infrastructure-related challenges, ensuring minimal service disruptions.
