Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to train and mentor others effectively. Knowledge of Siemens Step 7 PLC programming is a plus. Excellent communication skills.

We are seeking a skilled CNC Applications Engineer to join our dynamic team at DuPage Machine Products in Bloomingdale, Illinois. In this role, you will be responsible for the processing, tool layouts, and programming of CNC multi-axis machines. Your expertise will drive efficiency and precision in our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Proposals: Develop comprehensive proposals for new parts based on customer specifications, detailing the appropriate machine tools, materials, cycle times, tooling costs, and additional services required.
  2. Documentation and Tool Layout: Create tool layout sheets that specify all necessary tooling and hardware for job setups, including Autocrib inventory numbers for easy access to perishable tooling. Additionally, generate color-coded offset prints to assist operators in making precise adjustments to maintain part specifications.
  3. CNC Programming and Process Engineering: Design machining processes that encompass a sequence of operations, machine tool selection, cutting tool selection, and work holding fixtures. Define machining parameters (speeds, feeds, and depths of cut) tailored to workpiece materials and cutting tool geometries. Utilize Partmaker or Espirit CAD CAM software to produce CNC programs for a variety of machines including turning centers and multi-spindles.
  4. Training: Provide training to personnel on machine setup, operation, and repair for all CNC machinery.
  5. Continuous Improvement: Regularly monitor and enhance cycle times and process capabilities across all CNC machines.
  6. Machine Setup: Perform setups for new processes and complex parts when needed.
  7. Corrective Action and Troubleshooting: Collaborate with quality control to address process inefficiencies and quality issues, and troubleshoot machinery as necessary, leveraging knowledge of Siemens Step 7 PLC programming.
