Configuration Management Specialist

Overview:
Join our dynamic team as a Configuration Management Specialist where you will be instrumental in supporting a Government IT services contract. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who will oversee configuration control processes, safeguarding the integrity of technical documentation and software, while managing the configuration management lifecycle. Your expertise will ensure compliance with established practices and efficient oversight of change control and auditing activities.
As a vital member of our team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support complex, mission-critical IT systems for government clients, ensuring all products and software configurations are meticulously managed, well-documented, and effectively controlled throughout their lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
Configuration Management Planning:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive configuration management plans that align with customer requirements and industry best practices.
- Define and implement processes for configuration identification, change management, and configuration audits throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with stakeholders to assess configuration management needs and propose solutions to maintain consistency and control.
Configuration Identification:
- Establish and maintain a system for configuration identification of all project deliverables (documents, software, hardware, etc.) throughout their lifecycle.
- Create and document a naming convention, version control, and baseline procedures for effective tracking of configuration items (CIs).
- Collaborate with product teams to identify components that will be managed under configuration control.
Change Control Management:
- Develop and enforce procedures for managing changes to product documents, software, hardware, and related configurations.
- Oversee the change process to ensure that only approved and validated changes are incorporated into documentation.
