Position Overview
As a Construction Estimator at remote-raven, you will play a crucial role in our project lifecycle by meticulously analyzing construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation to develop precise cost estimates and competitive bids for diverse commercial construction projects. This position demands a robust technical understanding of construction documents, proficiency in digital quantity takeoffs, and comprehensive cost analysis skills.
The Estimator will collaborate closely with our internal preconstruction, sales, and project management teams to guarantee that all bids are thorough, competitive, and in alignment with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Plan Review & Scope Analysis
• Review architectural drawings, specifications, and addenda to ascertain the complete project scope.
• Interpret construction documents, including finish schedules, elevations, sections, and detailed drawings.
• Identify scope requirements, exclusions, and potential risk factors within bid documents.
• Track and incorporate revisions from addenda and updated plan sets.
Quantity Takeoffs
• Execute accurate digital quantity takeoffs from construction drawings.
• Measure floor, wall, and vertical surface areas for materials such as tile, stone, and related finishes.
• Calculate material quantities, including square footage, linear footage, trim pieces, waterproofing systems, and accessory components.
• Validate takeoff quantities against architectural finish schedules.
Cost Estimating
• Create detailed cost estimates that encompass labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Utilize company labor production rates to estimate installation durations and labor costs effectively.
• Solicit and evaluate supplier and vendor pricing to ensure competitive rates.
• Construct cost breakdowns and summary estimates for internal review.
Bid Preparation & Submission
• Develop bid proposals in accordance with project bid instructions.
• Ensure that scope coverage is consistent with contract documents and specifications.
• Maintain organized estimate files that include takeoffs, assumptions, clarifications, and exclusions.
• Engage in internal bid review meetings prior to submission.
Preconstruction Coordination
• Collaborate with project managers and leadership to review estimate assumptions.
• Identify potential value engineering opportunities for cost savings.
• Provide estimate breakdowns and documentation for project handoff upon project award.
