Role overview
This Controller role involves building and leading NODA’s accounting and financial operations from the ground up. The position covers general ledger management, financial close, audit processes, indirect rate structures, and supporting financial systems as the company grows through Series A, Series B, and future stages. Collaboration with the founding team and finance leadership is central to the role.
The Controller will help create infrastructure for federal contracting, including DCAA-compliant accounting, FAR-aligned indirect cost pools, audit-ready documentation, and the billing and reporting cadence needed for government contracts. Candidates with Big 4 audit backgrounds, strong defense accounting knowledge, and experience in venture-backed companies are well suited for this position.
Key responsibilities
Accounting operations
- Oversee daily accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll integration, and month-end close
- Develop and maintain the chart of accounts, indirect cost pools, and cost structures for government contracting
- Establish close calendars, reconciliation routines, and accounting policies that adapt as the company grows
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, banking partners, and outsourced accounting services as NODA transitions to in-house functions
