Requirements:Prior experience and equipment are mandatory; training is not provided. Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Court Reporter. Meticulous attention to detail. Punctuality and a strong commitment to deadlines. Positive attitude and robust work ethic. Ability to work independently. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent problem-solving and communication capabilities. Proficient command of the English language. Technologically adept. Must pass security screening for access to client locations, including government facilities. Preferred certifications: NCRA, AAERT, or NVRA.

Join Neal R. Gross and Co., a premier provider of Court Reporting and Transcription services based in the Washington, DC area, operating nationwide. Our esteemed clients include local, state, and federal courts, the House of Representatives, the Department of Defense, and various private sector entities. We are currently seeking skilled Court Reporters on a contract basis to conduct assignments at client locations in your area. Utilizing specialized equipment, you will ensure accurate documentation of a wide range of proceedings, including legal court sessions, non-profit board meetings, and depositions. Our scheduling is flexible, accommodating candidates who can commit to anywhere from a few assignments each month to 2-3 per week.

Work Arrangement: In-person at client sites in your local area.

  • Utilize Machine Shorthand, Voice, or Digital capture to document proceedings.
  • Provide verbatim records of court sessions, meetings, depositions, and hearings.
  • Administer oaths and participate in legal proceedings.
  • Transport, set up, and operate recording equipment effectively.
  • Prepare for assignments in advance, including creating job worksheets and reviewing case details.
  • Ensure the security of all exhibits, perform necessary file backups, and upload required documentation at the conclusion of proceedings.
  • Maintain accurate logs and reports, responding promptly to all communications.
  • Represent Neal R. Gross and Co. with professionalism in all interactions.
  • Engage with high-level clients across various sectors, including federal and state government and private industry.
