Requirements:Extensive experience in risk or credit functions within an FCA regulated organization, preferably with a focus on retail mortgages. Demonstrated success in designing, creating, implementing, and enhancing credit strategies throughout the lifecycle. Experience collaborating with or within data functions. Strong familiarity with UK regulations and lending standards. Exceptional influencing, interpersonal, and communication skills. Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to discern trends, issues, or opportunities from both qualitative and quantitative data. High numerical proficiency, supported by a relevant degree and excellent analytical skills. Knowledge of coding (SQL, Python, etc.) is a plus but not mandatory. Highly organized, capable of meeting deadlines and managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

Role Overview

The Credit Risk Manager will report to the 1LOD Head of Credit Risk. This role shapes credit risk strategy and oversees third-party asset portfolios, including those held by subsidiaries. The position is based in Manchester.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the oversight and development of credit strategy for third-party asset portfolios, with a primary focus on retail mortgages (both owner-occupied and buy-to-let).
  • Monitor portfolio performance closely to spot areas of marginal risk or concern early.
  • Support updates to subsidiary credit policies and strategies, ensuring governance standards are met.
  • Identify, monitor, and report on emerging risks within the bank’s third-party asset portfolios.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on credit risk across the product lifecycle, especially for retail mortgages.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist and mentor analysts within the team, with the potential for line management responsibilities.
