About You:Over 5 years of experience in a relevant data science role. A minimum of 2 years of experience in managing a team of data scientists. Experience collaborating with Product, Engineering, and Design leadership to shape product strategy and make informed decisions. A proven track record in data-driven decision-making, including defining success metrics, conducting observational inference, and making decisions based on experimentation. Demonstrated curiosity regarding AI tools and emerging technologies, along with a willingness to learn and utilize them to improve productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.

About the role

The Data Science team at Asana plays a crucial role in advancing our mission by promoting a data-centric approach that influences our product development and business strategies. As a Data Science Manager within the Product Data Science team, you will be instrumental in leveraging data and analytical methods to guide Asana's product roadmap and decision-making processes. You will collaborate closely with leaders in Engineering, Product, and Design, as well as the broader Asana data community, to establish priorities and facilitate our growth. Your passion for mentoring and leading a team will be complemented by your dedication to overcoming intricate technical challenges.


This position is located in our New York City office with a hybrid work schedule. In-office days are typically Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, with the flexibility to work from home on Wednesdays. Depending on your role and team collaboration needs, working from home on Fridays may also be an option. Key Responsibilities:
  • Guide the Product Data Science team in utilizing data to establish appropriate goals and strategies to achieve them.
  • Lead and develop a team of data scientists, fostering their professional growth and expanding the team when necessary to ensure ongoing business success.
  • Collaborate with leadership in Product, Engineering, and Design to determine our investments and strategic choices in AI and Collaborative Work Management.
  • Assume a leadership role within the broader Asana Data Community, working alongside other Data Science teams, Data Engineering, and Analytics.
