This freelance Data Scientist (Python & SQL) role with toloka-ai is project-based and remote, open to candidates located in Austria. Mindrift connects experienced data science professionals with assignments that focus on evaluating and improving AI systems for major technology companies. Work is assigned per project and is not a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
- Design computational data science challenges that mirror real-world analytical scenarios in sectors such as telecommunications, finance, government, e-commerce, and healthcare.
- Develop problems requiring Python programming, using libraries like Pandas, Numpy, Scipy, Scikit-learn, Statsmodels, Matplotlib, and Seaborn.
- Ensure problems are sufficiently complex to prevent manual solutions within days or weeks.
- Create tasks involving advanced reasoning in data processing, statistical analysis, feature engineering, predictive modeling, and extracting insights.
- Produce deterministic and reproducible problems, using fixed seeds for any randomness.
- Base challenges on business cases such as customer analytics, risk assessment, fraud detection, forecasting, optimization, and operational efficiency.
- Cover the full data science workflow: data ingestion, cleaning, exploratory analysis, modeling, validation, and deployment considerations.
- Include big data processing scenarios that require scalable solutions.
- Validate solutions using Python and standard statistical techniques.
- Document each problem with clear business context and provide verified, correct answers.
Requirements
- At least five years of hands-on data science experience with measurable business impact.
- Portfolio of completed projects or publications demonstrating real-world problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Python programming skills for data science, including Pandas, Numpy, Scipy, Scikit-learn, and Statsmodels.
- Strong knowledge of statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms and applications.
- Expertise in SQL and database operations for data manipulation and analysis.
- Familiarity with Generative AI technologies such as LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, and vector databases.
- Understanding of MLOps and model deployment workflows.
- Experience with frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or LangChain.
- Excellent written English (C1 level or higher).
