Qualifications

Key ResponsibilitiesFoundation BuildingCollaborate with the Controller to establish and implement formal accounting policies, processes, and internal controls. Develop a systematic month-end and year-end closing process. Lead initiatives for accounting system upgrades, process automation, and data integrity. Core Accounting Operations LeadershipOversee general ledger accounting, revenue recognition, cost of sales, payroll, and accruals. Manage reconciliations of cash, cryptocurrency, and other digital assets. Financial Reporting & CompliancePrepare and manage financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow). Ensure adherence to GAAP (or IFRS) accounting standards. Handle technical accounting queries related to revenue recognition, equity, leases, etc. Maintain the chart of accounts and accounting policy documentation. Develop accounting schedules to support investor, board, and management reporting. Internal Controls & SystemsDesign and uphold internal control frameworks and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Role overview

The Director of Accounting will build and lead the company’s accounting operations. This position covers all core accounting responsibilities, from establishing internal controls to managing financial reporting. The Director will play a key part in moving Whop’s accounting from an early-stage setup to a more scalable structure.
