Join us as the Director of Commercial Finance for one of the prestigious brands within the Debenhams Group. This pivotal role will allow you to partner with the Brand CEO and key executives across Trading, Product, and Marketing, directly influencing our trajectory towards enhanced performance, growth, and profitability.

Your expertise will shine as you provide strategic financial leadership, combining rigorous financial oversight with forward-thinking commercial insights. As a trusted advisor, you will drive performance improvements, shape strategic initiatives, and uncover new growth opportunities across our own-brand, marketplace, and category revenue streams.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial Leadership & Performance

  • Oversee and manage the brand's P&L, ensuring a balance between strong financial governance and agile commercial responsiveness.
  • Serve as a key business partner to the Brand CEO and senior leadership, offering insights, challenges, and support to enhance operational performance.
  • Lead financial analyses of trading and operational outcomes, identifying potential risks and growth opportunities.

Trading & Insights

  • Collaborate closely with Trading, Product, and Marketing teams to monitor and react to real-time trading performance.
  • Provide regular financial reporting, daily, weekly, and ad-hoc, to facilitate timely commercial decision-making.
  • Engage with Finance BI and Analytics teams to deliver in-depth commercial insights and analyses driving growth.

Strategy & Planning

  • Manage the annual budgeting process, quarterly forecasts, and long-term strategic planning for the brand.
  • Be instrumental in shaping brand strategy, including the preparation and presentation of strategic plans to the Group Board.
  • Assess future growth opportunities across own-brand, beauty, and marketplace revenue avenues.

Cost & Cash Management

  • Collaborate with Group Finance to oversee both direct and indirect costs, including headcount, supply chain, and technology investments.
  • Work alongside the Treasury team to accurately manage marketplace and wholesale financial balances.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of working capital cycles, provisioning, and cash flow impacts.

Reporting & Governance

  • Ensure trade reporting aligns seamlessly with management accounts and statutory reporting standards.
  • Partner with Financial Accounting to uphold consistency, accuracy, and transparency in all reporting.
  • Lead initiatives to improve reporting automation and data quality.

Group Collaboration

  • As part of the broader Group Finance leadership team, share insights and best practices across various brands.
  • Contribute to cross-brand initiatives and business cases that yield mutual benefits for both the brand and the Group.
