Join OpenAI as the Director of Data Engineering and Agentic AI Automation, where you'll spearhead the evolution of our finance data infrastructure. As we expand our finance operations, we require robust and scalable data systems that can keep pace with our growth's intricacies. Your leadership will ensure the development of well-structured, auditable data essential for revenue recognition, financial reporting, and strategic planning. You will guide a talented team of analytics engineers, data engineers, and AI engineers to construct data pipelines that seamlessly integrate our internal engineering systems with leading enterprise platforms like Oracle Fusion ERP. Additionally, you will shape the roadmap for agentic AI automation, facilitating intelligent workflows, process automation, and AI-driven decision-making within the Finance department.
This position is located in San Francisco, CA, and operates on a hybrid work model, requiring three days in the office each week. We also provide relocation assistance for new hires.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and sustain a scalable, auditable data infrastructure that delivers precise financial insights, focusing on revenue recognition, compute attribution, and close automation.
Lead and mentor a team of analytics engineers, data engineers, and AI engineers to create impactful, intelligent data systems.
Direct initiatives related to financial close and allocations automation, B2C revenue automation connecting engineering systems to ERP, including cash and source system reconciliation.
Design and implement data pipelines that bridge ERP, planning, and operational systems, including Oracle Fusion, Anaplan, and Workday.
Establish and maintain scalable, audit-proof architecture to support reliable financial reporting and compliance.
Create data and AI-enhanced workflows that improve forecasting accuracy, compliance automation, and operational efficiency.
Develop and manage data marts and products that serve diverse stakeholders across Revenue, FP&A, Tax, Procurement, Hardware Accounting, and Controller teams.
Set and uphold best practices for data modeling, lineage, observability, and reconciliation across finance data domains.
Define the technical direction and oversee team structure, mentoring engineers and managing contractors or system integrators to ensure high-quality outcomes.
