The Director of Engineering plays a pivotal role in steering and harmonizing all engineering, technical, and maintenance activities throughout the organization. This position is essential for achieving operational excellence by promoting efficient production support, implementing effective maintenance procedures, facilitating new product development (NPD), and advancing technology, all while ensuring that engineering goals align with the broader business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage all engineering, maintenance, industrial engineering, and technical functions across both the plant and head office to guarantee operational efficiency and reliability.
- Implement robust preventive and corrective maintenance systems to reduce downtime and enhance equipment performance.
- Offer technical assistance to production teams ensuring the seamless execution of orders in accordance with quality standards and operational targets.
- Lead New Product Development (NPD), mockups and technical execution in collaboration with Design, R&D, Quality, and Production teams.
- Establish, enforce, and continually improve engineering policies, SOPs, and technical standards to maintain consistency, safety, and compliance.
- Review and validate engineering designs, technical modifications, and non-standard costing pertaining to materials, labor, and processes.
- Develop and oversee relationships with vendors, contractors, and service providers, ensuring cost-effective sourcing and quality delivery.
- Resolve technical issues, internal claims, and complaints by implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Advance technology, automation, and ERP (e.g., SAP) integration to boost productivity and facilitate data-driven decision-making.
- Guide, develop, and manage the engineering team through effective performance management, technical training, and capability building.
- Oversee capacity planning, line balancing, and manpower optimization to ensure alignment with production objectives and business growth.
- Lead initiatives for plant layout redesign and workflow optimization to enhance throughput, minimize handling time, and maximize space utilization.
- Conduct time and motion studies to develop standardized work practices that enhance productivity and consistency.
