The Director of Learning and Development plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the organization’s comprehensive learning strategy aimed at enhancing workforce capabilities, optimizing performance, and driving business expansion. This leadership position oversees all aspects of training, leadership development, and talent management initiatives throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Learning Strategy & Planning
- Craft and execute an organization-wide Learning and Development strategy that aligns with overall business objectives.
- Assess and identify current and anticipated skill gaps within the workforce.
- Create long-term capability frameworks and tailored learning roadmaps.
2. Leadership & Talent Development
- Design and implement leadership development programs catering to all tiers of management.
- Facilitate succession planning and foster the development of high-potential employees.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on initiatives aimed at talent growth.
3. Training & Program Management
- Oversee the design and execution of training programs, including technical skills, soft skills, and compliance training.
- Ensure the effective implementation of onboarding and continuous learning initiatives.
- Manage relationships with internal and external training providers.
4. Digital Learning & Innovation
- Implement and maintain Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other learning technologies.
- Advocate for e-learning, microlearning, and blended learning approaches.
- Drive innovation in learning methodologies and tools.
5. Performance & Impact Measurement
- Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness and return on investment (ROI) of training programs.
- Analyze learning data to provide actionable insights to leadership.
- Continuously enhance programs based on participant feedback and measurable outcomes.
6. Stakeholder Management
- Engage with business leaders to understand and address capability requirements.
- Work collaboratively with HR functions (Talent, Performance, Organizational Development).
- Influence leadership to cultivate a culture of learning across the organization.
7. Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor the Learning and Development team.
- Oversee budget management and resource allocation.
- Develop a high-performing learning organization.
