Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:Over 10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or operations, including 3–5 years in a leadership capacity. Hands-on experience in transitioning products to contract manufacturers and scaling production effectively. Solid technical foundation in manufacturing process development, DFM/A, and quality systems. Demonstrated ability to manage builds, troubleshoot production challenges, and foster cross-functional collaboration with design, testing, and supply chain teams. Proven track record of building and mentoring high-performing technical teams. Self-motivated professional with outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic startup environment as part of a small team. Willingness to travel as necessary. Must possess and maintain authorization to work in the US.

This Director of Manufacturing Operations position is based onsite at the Santa Clara, CA headquarters.

Role overview

The Director of Manufacturing Operations leads the transition from in-house builds to high-volume production with a contract manufacturer. This role combines hands-on process improvement, strategic planning, and team leadership to support the company’s next phase of growth.

What you will do

  • Oversee daily manufacturing operations and manage the shift to contract manufacturing for increased output.
  • Coordinate knowledge transfer to the contract manufacturer, including documentation, tooling, and test systems.
  • Track contract manufacturer performance through KPIs such as quality, yield, and throughput, and respond to issues as they arise.
  • Lead Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/A) reviews with engineering to improve manufacturability and manage costs.
  • Supervise pilot builds and initial production runs, validating processes and preparing for larger-scale manufacturing.
  • Refine and implement manufacturing processes, quality controls, and reporting systems.
  • Build and manage a small manufacturing engineering team focused on New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Travel to contract manufacturing and vendor sites to support production and delivery as needed.
