This Director of Manufacturing Operations position is based onsite at the Santa Clara, CA headquarters.
Role overview
The Director of Manufacturing Operations leads the transition from in-house builds to high-volume production with a contract manufacturer. This role combines hands-on process improvement, strategic planning, and team leadership to support the company’s next phase of growth.
What you will do
- Oversee daily manufacturing operations and manage the shift to contract manufacturing for increased output.
- Coordinate knowledge transfer to the contract manufacturer, including documentation, tooling, and test systems.
- Track contract manufacturer performance through KPIs such as quality, yield, and throughput, and respond to issues as they arise.
- Lead Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/A) reviews with engineering to improve manufacturability and manage costs.
- Supervise pilot builds and initial production runs, validating processes and preparing for larger-scale manufacturing.
- Refine and implement manufacturing processes, quality controls, and reporting systems.
- Build and manage a small manufacturing engineering team focused on New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Travel to contract manufacturing and vendor sites to support production and delivery as needed.
