About This Role:
As the Director of State Policy, you will take charge of crafting and implementing Crusoe's legislative strategy at the state level across our diverse operational regions. You will be a knowledgeable advocate who recognizes that successful policy initiatives thrive at the junction of business objectives and the public good. Your role will involve navigating the swiftly changing landscape of AI regulation, data privacy, and energy sustainability, ensuring our innovations are backed by a stable and progressive policy framework.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Advocacy: Formulate and implement multi-state strategies to promote policy objectives, while proactively identifying legislative trends and developing strategic responses to mitigate potential risks.
Government Relations: Establish and nurture high-level connections with Governors, State Attorneys General, Legislators, and influential agency leaders (such as those in Public Utility Commissions).
Internal Advisory: Serve as the state policy lead for internal teams (Legal, Engineering, and Finance), translating complex state regulations into actionable insights across departments.
Coalition Leadership: Collaborate with local, economic development, and community teams to engage with industry trade associations and third-party stakeholders, forming unexpected alliances to build consensus on intricate issues such as energy grid modernization and AI ethics.
Lobbyist Management: Oversee and assess a network of external consultants and contract lobbyists to ensure adherence to corporate ethics and strategic return on investment.
Qualifications:
Experience: 8–12+ years in government affairs, public policy, or law, preferably within the energy, technology, or infrastructure sectors.
