This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with cutting-edge coating technologies in a fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on excellence and continuous improvement.Production & Coating OperationsOperate physical vapor deposition systems, including aluminum, protected aluminum, dielectric, and enhanced coatings for large-aperture mirrors and optical assemblies.Prepare optical components for coating by cleaning, fixturing, masking, and loading them onto the systems.Execute coating runs in accordance with established procedures and optical performance requirements.Monitor deposition parameters, including vacuum levels, rates, thickness, temperature, and uniformity.Conduct in-process and post-process inspections to ensure coating quality, adhesion, reflectivity, and uniformity.Support the coating of one-off, prototype, and low-volume production optics while maintaining high repeatability standards.Equipment Ownership & MaintenanceTake ownership of the day-to-day health of coating systems, including vacuum chambers, pumps, power supplies, sources, and control systems.Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on vacuum and deposition equipment.Coordinate major maintenance, rebuilds, and upgrades with vendors as necessary.Maintain an inventory of spare parts, consumables, and preventive maintenance schedules.Identify and resolve root causes of equipment downtime or process deviations.Process Control & ImprovementMaintain and enhance coating recipes, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.Document and track process parameters, yields, and performance trends.Drive improvements in coating uniformity, repeatability, and overall quality.
