Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Echocardiographer to become an integral part of our multidisciplinary team based in central Manchester. This vital position involves providing high-quality, independent echocardiographic assessments. You will perform and interpret transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs), including Global Longitudinal Strain (GLS), and generate precise, immediate reports while operating autonomously without requiring cardiologist oversight.

This is a locum position offering flexibility of up to two days per week.

Your Contributions in the First 6–12 Months

  • Conduct thorough transthoracic echocardiographic examinations adhering to the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) standards.

  • Independently interpret and report echocardiographic findings, ensuring prompt delivery of results to clients and referring physicians.

  • Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to incorporate echocardiographic findings into comprehensive health assessments.

  • Attend regular cardiology multidisciplinary team meetings.

  • Communicate directly with our cardiologist as necessary.

  • Follow our established escalation protocols.

  • Engage in quality assurance initiatives, including auditing and peer reviews, to uphold high standards of clinical practice.

  • Participate in continuous professional development and contribute to the training of junior staff or students as appropriate.

Essential Qualifications

  • BSE Level 2 Transthoracic Echocardiography Accreditation or equivalent, allowing for independent reporting of echocardiographic studies without cardiologist review.

  • A minimum of two years of experience following BSE Level 2 accreditation.

  • Demonstrated experience in performing and interpreting a diverse range of echocardiographic studies, with proficiency in Global Longitudinal Strain (GLS).

  • Exceptional communication skills with the capability to convey complex information clearly to clients and colleagues.
