Your Mission:
As the Engineering Manager, you will spearhead and cultivate the engineering department in our fast-growing food production company. Taking full ownership of reliability, maintenance strategies, and engineering standards across our operations, this role offers a unique chance to lead from the front rather than manage inherited systems.
From day one, you will define our engineering operations: designing preventative maintenance systems, establishing standards, building a robust team, and creating the essential infrastructure to support large-scale production.
Your role will require a blend of hands-on problem-solving skills and strategic foresight, reducing downtime, enhancing equipment performance, and transitioning the business from reactive troubleshooting to a proactive, data-driven engineering approach.
If you are passionate about building high-performing teams, enjoy tackling complex operational challenges, and aspire to leave a significant impact on a growing business, this opportunity is your platform.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Recruit, build, and lead the Engineering team, establishing clear standards, organizational structure, and daily direction.
- Design and implement a preventative maintenance (PPM) and asset care program from the ground up.
- Own and enhance engineering KPIs, downtime, MTTR, MTBF, and PPM adherence.
- Lead both reactive and proactive engineering activities to optimize equipment reliability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at minimizing downtime and enhancing production line performance.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and optimization of new machinery and upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations as well as food manufacturing standards.
- Manage the engineering budget, contractor relationships, and supplier sourcing.
- Maintain an organized and well-equipped workshop and spare parts inventory.
- Collaborate closely with Production, NPD, and Operations on trials, automation, and scale-up projects.
