About the Role

CannonDesign is looking for an Entry-Level Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer to join the Boston, MA office. This position works within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team under the mentorship of a Certified Plumbing Designer or licensed Engineer. Projects span new construction and renovations across education, healthcare, corporate commercial, and science and technology sectors.

What You Will Do

  • Support design of piping, controls, and equipment selection for plumbing and fire protection systems in building projects, under supervision. Assist with HVAC design as needed.
  • Contribute to Revit/BIM modeling for plumbing and fire protection systems at all project phases, from schematic design through construction administration. Provide modeling support for HVAC systems when required.
  • Coordinate with specifications and work closely with the design team.
  • Draft technical reports for senior engineering review.
  • Review submittals and shop drawings for compliance with contract documents.
  • Visit job sites to verify existing conditions and monitor construction progress, including physical walkthroughs.
  • Take on other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering required by the hiring date. Degree from an ABET-accredited program preferred.
  • Solid understanding of advanced heat transfer, solar energy, and advanced fluid dynamics as applied to plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC system design.
  • Relevant internship experience preferred.
  • EIT and LEED accreditation are preferred.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
