WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?Red Seal Certificate is an assetPossession of SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certificationA minimum of 10 years of experience in the hospitality and food service industryAt least 10 years of experience as a Chef in hotels, resorts, restaurants, or remote lodges, with a strong grasp of both international and domestic cuisinesProficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and GFSExtensive knowledge regarding menu costing, recipe card management, and wage controlSolid practical and theoretical foundation across various kitchen areas, including Hot Kitchens, Cold Kitchens, Pastry/Bakery, Butchery, and Banquets for large groupsA proven leadership style with a positive, engaging personality and effective communication skillsPrevious experience in remote camp settings is preferred.

WHAT DOES THE ROLE ENTAIL?
As the Executive Chef at our premier Horizon North camp facility, you will work on a regular schedule of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off, with 12-hour shifts. Transportation to the site is provided.

The Executive Chef is pivotal in managing the daily operations of the kitchen, which includes ordering food supplies and designing menus, along with other essential duties such as food preparation and serving, training kitchen staff, and ensuring adherence to Horizon North Food Safety standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Crafting, presenting, and serving high-caliber rotational menus
  • Overseeing kitchen staff productivity and compliance with Horizon North policies, focusing on health, safety, and quality standards
  • Leading the training, development, and mentoring of kitchen personnel
  • Ensuring all food preparation aligns with FOODSAFE and Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP) protocols, following Horizon North safety guidelines
  • Optimizing the use of labor and chemical resources for efficiency
  • Engaging with clients and staff in a friendly and professional manner
  • Incorporating knowledge of dietary restrictions and preferences, such as allergies, vegan, and vegetarian options in meal planning
  • Conducting bi-weekly inventory assessments
