Position Overview
The Executive Vice President & Chief Physician Executive (CPE) is the highest-ranking physician leader within Luminis Health and a crucial member of the Executive Leadership Team, directly reporting to the CEO. This role is pivotal in steering strategic, operational, and clinical leadership throughout the health system, with a focus on enhancing clinical quality, patient safety, physician performance, and the overall efficacy of the clinical delivery framework.
The CPE is tasked with ensuring that Luminis Health functions as a fully integrated care system, harmonizing physician collaboration, clinical standards, and operations across inpatient, outpatient, and post-acute settings. This position is essential for propelling enterprise performance and growth by fostering service line development, optimizing care delivery, and fortifying the physician enterprise to align with organizational goals, including value-based care and population health initiatives.
Operating in a complex matrix environment, the CPE leads through influence and collaboration, developing robust relationships with clinical, operational, and administrative leadership. This individual promotes alignment among both employed and independent physicians, advocating for a unified “one medical staff” model that upholds consistent standards, governance, and expectations across the organization.
As a highly esteemed, practicing physician, the CPE exemplifies clinical excellence and serves as a mentor for the medical staff. Leading with humility, transparency, and integrity, the CPE forges trust and credibility while nurturing and developing future physician leaders within the organization. This role entails making judicious and courageous decisions that prioritize the well-being of patients, physicians, and the health system.
The CPE is expected to maintain an active clinical practice within Luminis Health to ensure clinical credibility and connection to frontline care delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic & Enterprise Leadership
- Act as the primary physician advisor to the CEO and Board regarding clinical strategy and performance.
- Engage in the creation and implementation of enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
- Convert strategic objectives into actionable clinical and operational initiatives.
- Lead strategies for physician alignment and engagement across both employed and independent medical staff.
- Promote a unified “one medical staff” framework with standardized credentialing, peer review, clinical protocols, and governance across the system.
- Drive service line strategy, growth, and financial outcomes.
