O’Hagan Meyer is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join its Atlanta, GA office. This full-time role supports attorneys handling civil defense litigation, including single-plaintiff, multi-plaintiff, and complex cases. The team values attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to work independently as well as within a group. A strong background in litigation and solid problem-solving skills are essential for success in this position.
Main responsibilities
- Prepare and review legal documents, including briefs, appeals, complaints, and answers.
- Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery materials for civil defense cases.
- Support the discovery process by preparing and responding to discovery requests.
- Analyze, summarize, and organize client records and documents, including creating timelines and chronologies.
- Prepare and serve subpoenas for records and depositions, and monitor their status.
- Investigate claims by conducting background checks, interviewing witnesses, and gathering facts.
- Assist attorneys in compiling information for motions, depositions, hearings, and trials.
- Organize document productions and review key evidence relevant to each case.
- Conduct legal research to support motions and trial preparation.
- Collect and organize materials for expert consultations and retention.
- Oversee case development and manage other case-related tasks as necessary.
- Assist with trial preparation and attend trials when required.
Requirements
- Experience as a paralegal supporting litigation, with a focus on civil defense matters.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Effective problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to tasks.
