To excel in this position, you should possess a robust practical understanding of spectroscopic and imaging techniques, particularly for fast processes on nanosecond timescales or longer. Proven experience with diverse diagnostic equipment is essential, alongside familiarity with vacuum systems in experimental settings. Proficiency in standard spectral and image analysis techniques for quantitative data interpretation is expected. Experience utilizing pulsed laser systems for gas excitation or object illumination for high-speed imaging is highly beneficial. We seek a highly motivated individual who is eager to learn and can take responsibility for multiple small-scale projects. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential for success in this dynamic role.

As an Experimental Physicist specializing in optical imaging and spectroscopy, you will work closely with a team of engineers and scientists to identify and address the challenges of constructing high-energy pulsed laser systems. You will propose and design experiments focused on advanced imaging and spectroscopic techniques, including pulsed plasma imaging and high-speed imaging of atoms and molecules. Your role will include training technicians and junior scientists to conduct experiments and leading various projects while collaborating with architecture, science, and engineering teams. You will also analyze experimental data and work with theoretical teams to enhance our understanding of various processes.
