About the job
Your Role
As a Debt Relief Counselor, you will guide your own group of clients towards personalized solutions for their debt. In this role, you will conduct a wide range of discussions, from initial intakes and advice to support during debt restructuring. You will adopt a coaching style when interacting with clients, maintaining a compassionate approach while keeping a clear professional distance. In your communications with creditors and other organizations, you will use a straightforward business style. You will clearly document agreements made and monitor progress. You enjoy looking at established patterns from alternative perspectives. Staying informed of relevant laws and regulations, you will apply this knowledge in practical and innovative ways. You are open to experimenting with new ideas and methodologies, and you are eager to be part of our team to shape the future of the field.
We genuinely believe that no one chooses to let their life spiral out of control. Financial issues and debt can happen to anyone. Debt is never isolated; it often stems from deeper issues. Together with the residents of Amsterdam, you will seek the core of their requests for help. You will set realistic goals that truly motivate your clients and commit yourself fully to their improvement. This process can be long, exhausting, and challenging for both the client and yourself. However, you are undeterred. You consider yourself successful only when a client no longer needs to return and has become self-sufficient.
At our organization, you celebrate these successes with your colleagues: a diverse team of passionate specialists. You collaborate with your peers from various social disciplines within the Neighborhood Team Amsterdam Southeast on joint projects as one cohesive unit to support the residents of Amsterdam. And your colleagues in debt relief? They are among the very best in the Netherlands.
