Emergency Room Technicians at Luminis Health provide direct care to patients in the emergency department. Every interaction supports a high standard of care, with attention to each patient’s developmental, cultural, and ethical needs. The role contributes to both care quality and the overall patient experience.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist nursing staff by gathering patient care data and performing treatments according to established protocols. Typical tasks include starting IVs, drawing blood, conducting 12-lead EKGs, inserting foley catheters, checking vital signs, and providing wound care.
- Work alongside emergency and orthopedic physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners to help with fracture reductions, manage dislocations, and apply casts. Teach patients about the correct use of slings, ace wraps, and crutches.
- Process medical staff orders accurately, label blood tubes and lab specimens carefully, and communicate urgent orders promptly to the appropriate care team members.
- Document care activities such as height, weight, and point-of-care testing in the computerized documentation system.
- Transport medications securely during patient moves, ensuring delivery only to authorized personnel and following all medication security protocols.
- Monitor and maintain medical supplies and equipment to meet department guidelines.
Location and Schedule
This full-time position is located in Annapolis, MD. Coverage is required for both day and night shifts.
