The Mechanical Building Services Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and dependable operation of all mechanical systems within a large-scale manufacturing environment. This position demands technical leadership and in-depth knowledge of mechanical building services, with a focus on ensuring compliance with legislation, efficient maintenance, and ongoing asset improvement. The successful candidate will provide hands-on engineering expertise, manage contractors, and assure the technical integrity of mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, including PSSR, LOLER, PUWER, COSHH, and other relevant legislation.
- Maintain precise records of mechanical compliance, certifications, and documentation.
- Coordinate client insurance inspections and oversee the completion of corrective actions.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to compliance and mechanical safety.
- Establish, review, and uphold mechanical Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) strategies and schedules.
- Offer technical support and insight to maintenance teams and specialist contractors.
- Monitor maintenance performance to ensure work is conducted safely, efficiently, and up to required standards.
- Utilize CAFM systems to manage maintenance activities and compliance reporting.
- Supervise mechanical contractors performing maintenance, repairs, and minor capital works.
- Evaluate scopes of work, risk assessments, method statements, and technical submissions.
- Conduct site surveys and technical assessments to facilitate project planning and execution.
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
