Responsibilities will include overseeing the work of several housing staff attorneys across a diverse range of housing matters while maintaining a manageable caseload. Supervising attorneys will be responsible for monitoring court appearances in civil, supreme, and federal courts, reviewing draft pleadings, motions, and court submissions, as well as supporting the filing of affirmative cases on behalf of tenants and tenant groups. The UAC subunit specifically focuses on executing New York City’s pioneering Right to Counsel law.Supervising attorneys will collaborate closely with the Housing Unit Director, Deputy Directors, and other Supervising Attorneys to guide the Housing Unit's direction, enhance relationships with partner community organizations, and identify systemic housing-related trends that could be influenced by strategic litigation.We are looking for individuals who demonstrate a fervent commitment to social justice and have a proven track record of advocacy.
