THE NERD PROGRAM
The VEG New ER Doctor (NERD) Program is a transformative initiative designed to guide practicing veterinarians into becoming skilled, confident ER doctors. This six-month immersive program combines academic knowledge with hands-on clinical experience and personalized mentorship, enabling participants to seamlessly transition into full-time ER roles at VEG upon successful completion. This program ignites a passion for emergency medicine and fosters a profound understanding of life-saving veterinary practices.
If you are eager to enhance your skills in emergency care, including surgical procedures, endoscopy techniques, exotic animal care, and customer-centered service in an innovative hospital environment, we invite you to apply for our NERD program.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Collaborate directly with seasoned VEG doctors who will mentor you through actual ER cases, providing guidance and feedback throughout your journey. This is not mere observation; it's a dynamic, hands-on learning experience.
- As a new ER doctor (affectionately called a NERD!), you will gain invaluable ER experience by working 3-4 shifts per week (covering days, evenings, and nights), complemented by weekly case discussions, literature reviews, and practical training at our state-of-the-art facilities.
- Master effective client communication and care practices, embodying the VEG Way.
