Role overview This Culinary Quality Assurance Specialist position is based in Cairo, Egypt, and supports WCK’s field operations for Gaza. The contract runs for three months and reports to the Regional Culinary Manager for the MENA region. The specialist serves as the main authority on culinary quality, making sure food supplies inspected, approved, and shipped from Egypt meet WCK’s standards for dignified and culturally appropriate meals. This role connects the Supply Chain & Procurement team in Egypt with the Culinary Unit Manager in Gaza. Key responsibilities Quality inspection and vendor oversight Carry out regular quality inspections at vendor facilities, cold storage sites, warehouses, and packaging locations throughout Egypt. Review incoming and outgoing food items, such as frozen products, canned proteins, grains, dried goods, and other commodities, against WCK’s quality standards. Perform sensory evaluations, including taste, smell, texture, and appearance, for relevant product categories. Identify and document issues like brand inconsistencies, specification errors, packaging defects, and non-compliant products. Pre-dispatch cargo inspection Inspect all cargo shipments before they are sent to Gaza, verifying product quality, quantities, labeling accuracy, and cold chain maintenance. Report any non-compliance issues to the Supply Chain Manager and Culinary Unit Manager before approving dispatch. Ensure that flagged or rejected products are not shipped until resolved or replaced. Vendor engagement and feedback Communicate WCK’s culinary standards, taste preferences, and quality expectations to vendor teams. Provide structured feedback to vendors on product performance, focusing on taste, texture, consistency, and adherence to specifications. Help qualify new vendors and products through organized tasting and evaluation sessions. Build and maintain professional relationships with vendor representatives to encourage accountability and improvement.
