The Damage Prevention Technician is a vital member of our Operations team, dedicated to ensuring public safety and the protection of our pipeline assets. This role is primarily field-based and involves working independently to locate and mark utility lines, as well as responding to one-call tickets. WhiteWater Midstream operates a network of gas transmission pipelines along with associated receipt and delivery meter stations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively prevent damage by accurately locating, marking, flagging, and reporting underground utilities, including electrical power lines, gas and water lines, telecom cables, and sewer systems.
- Maintain detailed compliance records and document all work completed, including photographic evidence for each job site.
- Efficiently interpret and respond to one-call tickets, reviewing maps and drawings as needed.
- Coordinate the maintenance of facilities and equipment managed by third-party contractors, including pipeline right-of-way and excavation tasks.
- Oversee construction and maintenance projects performed by third parties, ensuring compliance with one-call tickets.
- Conduct regulatory compliance activities such as line patrols, inspections at road and railroad crossings, and valve inspections.
- Contribute to the development of Operations and Maintenance Procedures (O&M) and site-specific procedures.
- Ensure all work aligns with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements, completing all necessary documentation.
- Communicate status updates and issues regarding pipeline and maintenance activities to relevant personnel, representing the company in discussions with landowners, public officials, and at local meetings.
- Be prepared for occasional travel, including nights and weekends, as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
