As a vital member of our preconstruction team, the Project Estimator reports directly to the Preconstruction Manager and is instrumental in crafting comprehensive Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) proposals for high-voltage electrical, renewable energy, and utility projects. This role involves a thorough evaluation of Request for Proposal (RFP) packages to ascertain project scope, constructability, and proposal specifications, ensuring that our submissions are both compliant and competitive. The Project Estimator collaborates closely with estimating, engineering, procurement, and project controls to produce detailed cost estimates and supporting documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess RFP packages to identify project scope, schedules, deliverables, and commercial obligations for assigned estimates.
- Generate precise EPC cost estimates for transmission, distribution, substations, generation, and industrial electrical projects.
- Facilitate the development of comprehensive proposal submissions, ensuring alignment with client specifications and internal guidelines.
- Engage with preconstruction team members and cross-functional stakeholders to develop project scope, pricing strategies, execution plans, and timelines.
- Organize and participate in site visits to collect field data and evaluate constructability.
- Assist in the creation of supporting proposal documents, including:
- Project Execution Plan
- Cost Estimate
- Project Schedule (MS Project or Primavera)
- Environmental, Safety, Quality, and Inspection Test Plans
- Risk Register, Assumptions, and Clarifications
- Alternative Pricing and Proposals
- Executive Summary
- Support the engagement of subcontractors and vendors to gather pricing data and confirm scope alignment.
- Review client commercial terms and coordinate with internal teams for risk evaluations and compliance documentation.
- Maintain thorough records of all estimate bases throughout the proposal development process.
- Lead internal estimate review meetings at various stages of the estimating process.
- Conduct final bid submission reviews with relevant internal authorities.
- Facilitate formal hand-off meetings with the Project Management team post-contract award.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of change orders and scope modifications.
- Engage in project close-out and post-mortem reviews to foster continuous improvement.
- Utilize CRM systems to monitor proposal statuses, client interactions, and business development metrics.
- Submit precise and timely administrative documentation, including daily timesheets.
- Contribute to ongoing enhancements in the estimating process and proposal quality.
The estimated salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 USD.
